Bitcoin Dice

Dice games are one of the most popular branches of casino games. Different kinds of dice games have been played for centuries. One of the main reasons for their popularity is their quick pace and the fact that they can be played anywhere. Just a pair of dice is usually sufficient for any type of a dice game.

Multiple dice games can be played throughout casinos all over the world and since the first online casinos appeared, dice games have been available online too. Most casinos, at least the respectable ones, feature at least one dice game, such as Craps, while some casinos offer multiple variants.Online dice games, available at Bitcoin casinos are no different from standard dice games, played with actual dice. The game software is set to simulate dice rolling and the probability of each outcome is no different from the outcome when the game is played with actual dice.Plus, if the Bitcoin casino employs Provably Fair technology, each player will be in a position to check if the outcome of the game is random and they can do that themselves, which adds a sense of security and ensures all players that they get a fair chance of winning.

Craps

Craps is probably the most popular casino dice game, and it can be also played in an informal setting, a version known as Street Craps. To put it simply, Craps is a game where players wager on a dice roll or a series of dice rolls. Two dice are used. Pass and don’t pass are the two standard bets. When the sum of the two dice is 7 or 11, the pass bet wins, whereas when the sum is 12, 3 or 2, it loses. Whenever there is another outcome – 4, 5, 6, 8, 10 or 9, the dice are rolled again.

The result of the initial roll is called ‘point’ and the goal is to get either 7 or the point. If it is a point, then it is a win for the pass bet, if it is 7, the pass wager is lost. It would be logical for the ‘don’t pass’ bet to be the opposite of ‘pass’, but not quite. Namely, there is one minor difference. If the sum of the dice is 12, the don’t pass bet pushes, it doesn’t lose or win. So, it wins when the outcome is 2 or 3, and loses when it is either 11 or 7.

It is possible to place a don’t pass bet even after the point, i.e. the initial bet and in this case it loses when the dice roll to the point and wins when the result is 7. The house edge for these two bets is rather low, the pass bet will, on average bring the house a 1.41% profit, whereas the don’t pass is even more favourable 1.36%. The pay-out for both bets is 1 to 1.

Come and don’t come, often referred to as buy and lay are also popular bets, which can be placed only after the point is set. If the point is 8 or 6, the pay-out for the come bet is 6 to 5, whereas for 9 or 5 the pay-out is 3 to 2. Finally, for a point set at 4 or 10, the pay-out is 2 to 1. If you place a don’t come bet when the point is either 4 or 10 you can expect a 1 to 2 pay-out, 2 to 3 is what you’ll earn when the point is 9 or 5, whereas the pay-out is 5 to 6 for a point that is either 6 or 8.

Craps also includes a range of other, less standard and more specific bets, including place bets, field bets, one roll bets and hardways. The simplest strategy is to stick to the basic bets, as they offer the most favourable house edge. However, some players employ more complex strategies, such as progressive wagering strategies and the so called ‘three bet combo’.

Sic Bo

Sic Bo is another popular dice game that can be found at multiple Bitcoin casinos. The game was apparently invented in Ancient China. In this game players bet on the outcome of three dice, instead of two. Note that Sic Bo features a rather high edge compared to Craps, but it is still quite fun.

Big and small are two most basic bets in Sic Bo. Big is any outcome where the sum of the dice is equal to or higher than 11, whereas every combination equal to or lower than 10 is small. Both combinations pay 1 to 1, so if you wager 0.1 BTC on small and the three dice show 2, 1 and 3, then you would win 0.1 BTC. In the case where the three dice show the same number, there won’t be a pay-out, even if you have correctly guessed whether it would be big or small. Due to this rule, the house edge for these two bets is 2.78%. Due to the fact that there are three dice, the range of bets is rather extensive, but you should know that the house edge for all other more specific bets is significantly higher. The single bet is one popular bet. Here you wager whether a particular number will show up on the dice. If one dice shows the selected number, you will get a 1 to 1 pay-out, if it comes up on two dice, then the pay-out is 2 to 1, and if you’re lucky enough to get three dice with the same number, you will get a 21 to 1 pay-out.  The odds for the single bet are 7.87%.

Final Considerations

In addition to Craps and Sic Bo, there is a wide range of other dice games, some of which can also be played at a number of Bitcoin casinos. If you choose a casino that offers games in demo mode, you can get to practice each game for free, before wagering any real money.

Dice games are fast-paced and enticing, and the player usually has no influence on the outcome, so there is no pressure on you. However, it is wise to know the rules of the game and to be able to understand the likelihood of each bet. That way, you will be able to pick the most favourable bets, i.e. the ones with the lowest house edge which would effectively improve your chances of winning.
